Fishing villages & rural

Harbour Teal

The fishing villages and rural countryside are the heart of the catalogue. Fishermen hauling nets, farmers leading buffalo, padi fields and the feeding of ducks recur across decades, painted with a patience that lingers longest on water and light. The 1981 feature that first drew wider attention to his work framed exactly this: a way of life he wanted to record before it disappeared.

He composes these scenes in the studio from memory, using field studies only as a guide, so the villages read as remembered and interpreted. Several titles gathered here are leads still being confirmed; each work carries its own record status.
